HYDROXY PROGESTERONE CAPROATE
Hydroxyprogesterone caproate is a synthetic form of the hormone progesterone, used primarily in women to prevent preterm birth in pregnancies at risk.-Prevention of preterm birth in women with a history of preterm birth. -Management of threatened miscarriage.
Dosage should be individualized based on medical history and pregnancy status. Typically administered intramuscularly.
-Hypersensitivity to hydroxyprogesterone caproate. -Known or suspected pregnancy loss due to fetal abnormalities.
-Monitor closely for signs of preterm labor or other adverse effects during treatment. -Use with caution in patients with a history of depression or other psychiatric disorders.
-Common: Injection site reactions, nausea, headache. -Rare but serious: Thromboembolic events, allergic reactions.
No significant drug interactions reported. However, inform healthcare providers about all medications being taken, including over-the-counter and herbal supplements.
