HYDROXY PROGESTERONE CAPROATE

Hydroxyprogesterone caproate is a synthetic form of the hormone progesterone, used primarily in women to prevent preterm birth in pregnancies at risk.

Indications

-Prevention of preterm birth in women with a history of preterm birth. -Management of threatened miscarriage.


Dosage

Dosage should be individualized based on medical history and pregnancy status. Typically administered intramuscularly.


Contra-Indications

-Hypersensitivity to hydroxyprogesterone caproate. -Known or suspected pregnancy loss due to fetal abnormalities.


Special Precautions

-Monitor closely for signs of preterm labor or other adverse effects during treatment. -Use with caution in patients with a history of depression or other psychiatric disorders.


Side Effects
