Ibuprofen, Pseudoephedrine Hcl, Chlorpheniramine Maleate

This medication combines ibuprofen (a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug), pseudoephedrine (a decongestant), and chlorpheniramine (an antihistamine). It is used to relieve symptoms associated with the common cold, sinusitis, allergies, and flu-like conditions, including nasal congestion, sneezing, headache, body aches, and fever.

Indications

-Nasal congestion -Runny nose and sneezing due to allergies or colds -Sinus pressure and headache -Fever and body aches


Dosage

-Adults: 1 to 2 tablets every 4-6 hours as needed, not exceeding 6 tablets in 24 hours. -Children: Consult a physician. Dosage depends on age and weight.


Contra-Indications

-Known hypersensitivity to ibuprofen, pseudoephedrine, or chlorpheniramine. -Patients with severe cardiovascular conditions, hypertension, or severe kidney or liver disease. -Patients currently using or have recently used monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs).


Special Precautions

-Use cautiously in patients with hypertension, heart disease, thyroid disease, diabetes, or enlarged prostate. -Avoid in patients with gastrointestinal issues, such as ulcers. -Do not use during the third trimester of pregnancy or while breastfeeding without consulting a doctor. -May cause drowsiness; avoid operating heavy machinery.


Side Effects

-Drowsiness, dizziness, or headaches -Gastrointestinal discomfort, including nausea or indigestion -Dry mouth, blurred vision, or difficulty urinating -Possible allergic reactions such as rash or swelling


Drug Interactions

-Should not be used with other NSAIDs or decongestants. -May interact with anticoagulants, other antihistamines, blood pressure medications, and antidepressants (especially MAO inhibitors).
