Imidapril
It is a long acting ACE-Inhibitor antihypertensive drug. It has a benificial effect on glucose metabolism in type-II diabetes mellitus. It has a lower incidence of cough as compared to other ACE-inhibitors. It can be used in combination with a duretic and/or beta-blocker or calcium channel blocker to achieve additive therapeutic effect.Mild to moderate hypertension. Hypertension or diabetic nephropathy in patient with type-II diabetes mellitus.
Administered orally once a day. Adult : Starting dose is 5mg, If desired therapeutic results can not be achieved within 3-weeks, increase the dose to 10mg. Maximum dose is 20mg. Elderly (75yrs or older) : Starting dose is 2.5mg which can be increased maximum to 10mg.
Hypersensitivity to imidapril and other ACE-Inhibitors. Angiodema. Severe, renal impairment (creatinine clearance below 10ml/min) and patient on hemodylasis. Paediatric : Contraindicated. Pregnancy : Contraindicated. Lactation : Contraindicated. Elerly : Reduced the dose.
Renal impairment. Hepatic impairment. As with other ACE Inhibitors.
Mild and transient cough, tachycardia, bronchitis, headache, nausea, dizziness, diarrhoea were observed on clinical trails.
Same as observed with other ACE-Inhibitors.
