LAFUTIDINE

It is a newly developed H2 Receptor Antagonist that inhibits Gastric Acid Secretion and also has Gastro Protective effect in Gastric and Duodenal Ulcer Patients.

Indications

Gastric Ulcers, Duodenal ULcers, Gastric Mucosal Lesions, GERD and as a pre anaesthetic medication to prevent aspiration pneumonia.

Dosage

10mg twice daily for Ulcers, 10mg once daily for Gastric mucosal lesions, 10mg before day of operation and 10mg 2 hours before the introduction of anaesthetic on the day of operation for pre-anaesthetic medication.

Contra-Indications

It is contraindicated in nursing mothers. Hypersensitivity of Lefutidine or any of its constituents or to H2 receptor antagonists.

Special Precautions

Dosage needs to be adjusted in cases of reanl or hepatic impairment. To be administered with caution on cases of hematologic disorders.

Side Effects

Constipation, huperuricemia, hallucinations, anorexia, gynaecomastia, raised serum bilirubin or LFT levels.
