LATANOPROST

It is a prostaglandin F2a analogue. It is a prostanoid selective FP receptor agonist which is believed to reduce the intra-ocular pressure by increasing the outflow of aqueous humour.

Indications

Reduction of elevated intra-ocular pressure in patients with primary open glaucoma and ocular hypertension.


Dosage

One drop in affected eye once daily in the evening.


Contra-Indications

Hypersensitivity.


Special Precautions

Latanoprost may gradually change eye colour.


Side Effects

Latanoprost may cause darkening, thickening and lengthening of eye lashes.
