Levobunolol Hcl

Levobunolol HCl is a non-selective beta-adrenergic antagonist used primarily in the treatment of glaucoma.

Indications

Levobunolol HCl is indicated for the reduction of intraocular pressure in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension.


Dosage

The usual dosage is one drop of 0.25% or 0.5% solution in the affected eye(s) once or twice daily, as prescribed by a healthcare professional.


Contra-Indications

Levobunolol HCl is contraindicated in patients with bronchial asthma, sinus bradycardia, second- or third-degree atrioventricular block, and overt cardiac failure.


Special Precautions

Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular disease, including cardiac failure, hypertension, or impaired cardiac function.


Side Effects

Common side effects include burning or stinging sensation upon instillation, blurred vision, and conjunctivitis. Systemic effects may include bradycardia, hypotension, bronchospasm, or exacerbation of angina.


Drug Interactions

Levobunolol HCl may interact with other beta-adrenergic blocking agents, calcium channel blockers, and digitalis glycosides.
