Light Liquid Paraffin, also known as mineral oil, is a colorless and odorless petroleum-based product commonly used as a laxative to relieve constipation. It works by coating the stool and intestinal walls, easing bowel movements. Additionally, it is used topically in skincare products as an emollient to moisturize the skin.

Indications

Light Liquid Paraffin is primarily indicated for: -Treating constipation -Serving as a stool softener -Acting as a skin moisturizer in topical formulations


Dosage

For constipation: Adults can take 15-45 mL daily orally. The dose for children varies depending on age.


Contra-Indications

-Hypersensitivity to mineral oil -Intestinal obstruction or perforation -Difficulty swallowing or aspiration risk


Special Precautions

-Avoid taking it immediately before bedtime to prevent aspiration. -Prolonged use may lead to vitamin deficiencies, as it can interfere with the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins.
