Losartan Potassium with Enalapril Maleate
Losartan Potassium and Enalapril Maleate are medications used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). They belong to a class of drugs known as angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs) and angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors, respectively.-Hypertension (high blood pressure) -Heart failure -Chronic kidney disease in patients with diabetes
Dosage may vary depending on the patient's condition and medical history. It is essential to follow the prescribed dosage by the healthcare provider.
These medications are typically contraindicated in: -Pregnancy (especially during the second and third trimesters) -History of angioedema related to previous ACE inhibitor or ARB use -Severe renal impairment -Hypersensitivity to the active ingredients
-Renal function should be monitored regularly. -Patients with heart failure or on diuretics may require close monitoring of electrolyte levels. -Caution in patients with a history of angioedema. -Dosage adjustment may be necessary in patients with liver impairment.
Common side effects may include dizziness, hypotension, elevated blood potassium levels, cough (more common with ACE inhibitors), and changes in renal function.
-NSAIDs (Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs) may reduce the antihypertensive effect. -Diuretics may enhance the hypotensive effects. -Use caution with potassium-sparing diuretics or potassium supplements to avoid hyperkalemia. -Other antihypertensive agents may enhance the effect of Losartan and Enalapril.
