Indications

Lurasidone is indicated for the treatment of schizophrenia and depressive episodes associated with bipolar disorder.


Dosage

-The dosage of lurasidone varies depending on the individual's condition and response to treatment. It is typically administered once daily with food. -Oral: 40-160mg per day once a day.


Contra-Indications

Lurasidone is contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity to the drug or any of its components. It should also be avoided in patients with severe renal or hepatic impairment.


Special Precautions

Paediatric: Increases suicidal thoughts in paediatric patients. Pregnancy: Category B. Lactation: Discontinue the drug. Elderly: Elderly patients with dementia-related psychosis.


Side Effects

Increased Mortality in Elderly Patients with Dementia-Related Psychosis, Suicidal Thoughts and Behaviors in Adolescents and Young Adults, Cerebrovascular Adverse Reactions, Including Stroke, in Elderly Patients with Dementia-related Psychosis, NeurolepticMalignant Syndrome, Tardive Dyskinesia, Leukopenia, Neutropenia, and Agranulocytosis, Orthostatic Hypotension and Syncope.


Drug Interactions

Lurasidone may interact with other medications, including certain antidepressants, antifungals, and antihypertensive drugs. It is important to inform your healthcare provider about all medications you are taking before starting lurasidone.
