Macobalamin is a form of Vitamin B12 used in the treatment of various health conditions. It is essential for the functioning of the brain and nerves, and the production of red blood cells.

Indications

-Peripheral neuropathy -Diabetic neuropathy -Megaloblastic anemia due to Vitamin B12 deficiency -Supportive treatment for nerve pain


Dosage

-Oral: 500 mcg to 1500 mcg daily, as directed by a healthcare professional. -Injectable: Dosage and administration depend on the condition and patient response, as prescribed by a healthcare provider.


Contra-Indications

-Hypersensitivity to Macobalamin or any component of the formulation -Leber's disease (hereditary optic nerve atrophy)


Special Precautions

-Use with caution in patients with a history of allergic reactions to cobalamins. -Regular monitoring of blood parameters is advised during long-term treatment. -Not recommended for individuals with undiagnosed anemia.


Side Effects

Drug Interactions

-Chloramphenicol may decrease the hematologic response to Macobalamin. -Anticonvulsants may reduce the absorption of Vitamin B12. -Metformin may reduce Vitamin B12 absorption when taken for prolonged periods.
