Magaldrate
Magaldrate is an antacid medication that helps neutralize stomach acid and alleviate symptoms associated with indigestion, heartburn, and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).-Relief of symptoms associated with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) -Treatment of dyspepsia and heartburn -Management of peptic ulcer disease
-Adults: 400 to 1200 mg per day, divided into 3 to 4 doses -Children: Dosage as per the physician's recommendations -Administration: Typically taken orally, with or without food, as directed by a healthcare provider.
-Hypersensitivity to Magaldrate or any other component of the formulation -Severe renal impairment -Patients with a history of hypersensitivity reactions to similar antacids
-Use with caution in patients with renal impairment -Monitor electrolyte levels in long-term use -Avoid use in patients with a history of gastrointestinal bleeding or obstruction
-Constipation or diarrhea -Nausea or vomiting -Stomach cramps -Rare: Allergic reactions such as rash, itching, or swelling
-May interfere with the absorption of other medications, such as certain antibiotics and anti-fungal drugs -Potential interaction with medications that alter stomach pH
