MENINGOCOCCAL VACCINE
Meningococcal Vaccine is designed to protect against meningococcal disease, which includes infections such as meningitis and septicemia caused by Neisseria meningitidis bacteria. It stimulates the body’s immune system to recognize and combat these bacteria, providing immunity against several strains.-Prevention of meningococcal disease caused by Neisseria meningitidis serogroups A, C, W, Y, and B. -Recommended for infants, children, adolescents, and adults who are at increased risk of meningococcal infection.
-Infants (under 1 year): Typically administered as a series of doses starting from 2 months of age. -Children and Adolescents: Administered as a single dose or as part of a multi-dose series depending on age and vaccine type. -Adults: Dosage varies depending on the vaccine type and specific health needs.
-Severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) to any component of the vaccine. -Individuals with a history of severe allergic reaction to a previous dose of the vaccine.
-Use with caution in individuals with a history of Guillain-Barré syndrome. -Consult with a healthcare provider if the recipient has an ongoing illness or fever.
-Common: Redness, swelling, or pain at the injection site, mild fever, irritability. -Less common: Allergic reactions, rash, or joint pain.
Sufficient data are not available to establish the safety and immunogenicity of concomitant administration of BEXSERO with recommended adolescent vaccines.
