Meningococcal disease is an infection caused by a strain of bacteria called Neisseria meningitidis. Meningococcal disease is a serious infection caused by a bacteria. Meningococcal bacteria can infect the spinal cord and brain, causing meningitis that can be fatal. Meningococcal disease can also lead to permanent and disabling medical problems.

Indications

Prophylaxis against cerebrospinal meningitis due to meningococci of A&C groups.


Dosage

0.5 ml. s.c. or i.m.


Contra-Indications

Acute infectious diseases. Currently evolving diseases.


Special Precautions

Meningitis caused by other meningococci groups.Pregnancy,Children below 2 yrs.


Side Effects

Pain, induration, erythema, swelling, headache, fatigue, malaise, arthralgia, diarrhea, anorexia, chills, fever, vomiting, rash.


Drug Interactions

Sufficient data are not available to establish the safety and immunogenicity of concomitant administration of BEXSERO with recommended adolescent vaccines.
