Mepacrine Hydrochloride

Indications

Drug resistant Falciparum Malaria. It is effective for suppressive cure and control of overt attacks of malaria. In chloroquine resistant Falciparum strain, prophylactic.

Dosage

Malaria: For prophylaxis and suppression against Falciparum 0.6 to 0.7g / per week, may be recommended in divided doses, for treatment 0.9g on the first day 0.6g 2nd & 3rd days and 0.3g on 4th, 5th and 6th days may be given in divided doses.

Contra-Indications

Psoriasis.

Side Effects

Dizziness, gastrointestinal disturbances, yellow discolouration of skin may occur after prolonged usage.
