Mepyramine Maleate is an antihistamine used to relieve symptoms associated with allergic reactions, such as itching, hives, and rashes. It works by blocking histamine, a substance in the body that causes allergic symptoms.

Indications

-Allergic rhinitis -Urticaria (hives) -Allergic conjunctivitis -Pruritus (itching) caused by various allergic conditions


Dosage

-Adults: Typically 10-25 mg taken orally 2-3 times daily. -Children: Dosage depends on age and should be determined by a healthcare provider.


Contra-Indications

-Hypersensitivity to Mepyramine Maleate or any of its components -Patients with severe liver impairment -Concurrent use with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs)


Special Precautions

-Use with caution in patients with a history of glaucoma, prostate enlargement, or bladder obstruction. -Not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women unless prescribed by a healthcare provider. -May cause drowsiness; caution should be taken when operating machinery or driving.

Drug Interactions
