METOPROLOL TARTRATE

Metoprolol Tartrate is used in the treatment of Angina (heart-related chest pain), Hypertension (high blood pressure), heart attack, Migraine and Arrhythmia. Metoprolol Tartrate is a short-acting beta blocker that works on the heart. It helps in slowing down the heart rate and makes the heart more efficient at pumping blood in the body.

Indications

-Hypertension (high blood pressure) -Angina pectoris (chest pain) -Heart failure -Post-heart attack management


Dosage

Contra-Indications

-Allergy to metoprolol or other beta-blockers -Heart block greater than first degree -Cardiogenic shock -Severe bradycardia (slow heart rate) -Decompensated heart failure


Special Precautions

-Asthma or COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) -Diabetes -Peripheral vascular disease -Thyroid disorders -Liver or kidney problems -Pregnancy and breastfeeding


Side Effects

Common side effects may include fatigue, dizziness, slow heartbeat, low blood pressure, cold extremities, and digestive issues. Less common but serious side effects may include difficulty breathing, swelling of the face or throat, and mood changes.


Drug Interactions
