METRONIDAZOLE AND TINIDAZOLE
They have already been discussed in details in the chapter of ANTIBIOTICS under subheading ‘Drugs for protozoal infestations.’Trichomonas vaginalis. Infections of genito-urinary tracts in both sexes. Candida. Vaginitis, recurrent vaginitis.
Orally : Metronidazole : 200 mg thrice daily for 7 days or 800 mg at night for 2 days. Male partner should be treated concurrently. Tinidazole : 150 mg twice daily for 7 days or 150 mg thrice daily for 5 days or 2 gm in single dose. Treatment of male partner is advised concurrently. Some local vaginal preparations containing. Tinidazole are currently available.
