Mosapride Citrate

It is a novel, potent gastroprokinetic drug which is a selective serotonin 5-HT4 agonist. It exerts a more profound effect on motor functions involved in the protection against abnormal gastroesophageal reflux. It has no dopamine D2-receptor antagonist action and does not have central action but in contrast, it does not stimulate colonic motor hyperactivity.

Indications

Gastrointestinal symptoms associated with chronic gastritis.


Dosage

Adults : 15mg of mosapride citrate daily in 3 divided doses before or after meals.


Contra-Indications

Hypersensitivity.


Special Precautions

Elderly patients, pregnancy, Lactation, safety of this drug is not been established in children.


Side Effects

Diarrhea, dry mouth, malaise, abdominal pain, increased GOT, GPT, ALP, GTP, palpitations, dizziness, light-headedness, eosinophilia, increased triglyceride.


Drug Interactions

Atropine sulphate, butylcoporamine bromide, anticholinergic agents.
