MUPIROCIN

MUPIROCIN

It is a topical sterile antibiotic for the treatment of common bacteria skin infections. It is prepared by the fermentation of pseudomonas fluorescens. It inhibits in-vivo the synthesis of bacterical proteins by specific and reversible binding to isoleucyl transfer-RNA synthetase bacterical enzyme. Due to this particular mode of action, mupirocin does not show any cross-resistance with other antibiotics.

Secondary infections: Infected dermatosis e.g. infected traumatic lesions like abrasions, insect bites, minor wounds and minor burns.
