NEFOPAM
It is a non-narcotic analgesic drug indicated for relief of various types of acute and chronic pain. It does not cause respiratory depression as well as habituation or addiction.Acute and chronic pain, including post operative, dental, cancer, musculo-skeletal, traumatic pain.
30-90 mg, 3 times a day. Elderly initially 30 mg thrice daily.
Not to use in children, convulsions and C.N.S. disorders. Myocardial infarction.
Renal and hepatic dysfunction, urinary retention. Paediatrics: Not recommended. Pregnancy: Safety not established. Lactation: Use with caution. Elderly: Reduced dose is necessary.
Dry mouth, dizziness, nausea, nervousness, blurred vision, sweating, insomnia, headache, tachycardia.
With MAOIs may produce a dangerous rise in blood pressure, nefopam increases the side effects of anticholinergics and sympathomimetic decongestants
