NETILMICIN SULPHATE
Netilmicin Sulphate is an aminoglycoside antibiotic used to treat serious infections caused by Gram-negative bacteria. It works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, leading to bacterial death.-Treatment of severe infections caused by susceptible Gram-negative bacteria -Effective against infections of the respiratory tract, urinary tract, and skin -Used in hospital settings for serious infections, including those resistant to other antibiotics
-Adults: Typically administered intravenously or intramuscularly. Dosage is adjusted based on the severity of the infection and patient’s renal function. -Pediatric Patients: Dosage must be carefully adjusted based on body weight and renal function.
-Hypersensitivity to netilmicin or other aminoglycosides -Severe renal impairment (unless dose adjustment is made) -Pre-existing hearing loss or vestibular disorders
-Monitor renal function and hearing during treatment -Use with caution in patients with neuromuscular disorders -Avoid use in pregnancy unless absolutely necessary (Category D)
-Ototoxicity (hearing loss, tinnitus) -Nephrotoxicity (kidney damage) -Neuromuscular blockade -Allergic reactions (rash, itching, anaphylaxis)
-Increased risk of nephrotoxicity with other nephrotoxic drugs (e.g., cisplatin) -Potential for enhanced neuromuscular blockade with muscle relaxants -Avoid concurrent use with other aminoglycosides
