OXYBENZENE

Oxybenzene, also known as benzophenone-3, is an organic compound used in sunscreens and other personal care products to absorb and dissipate ultraviolet (UV) radiation, protecting the skin from harmful effects of the sun. It is a chemical UV filter that provides broad-spectrum protection against both UVA and UVB rays.

Indications

-Sunburn prevention -Protection against harmful UV radiation -Reducing the risk of skin cancer caused by sun exposure -Preventing premature aging of the skin


Dosage

-Apply liberally to all exposed skin areas 15 minutes before sun exposure. -Reapply every 2 hours or after swimming, sweating, or towel drying. -Use a sufficient amount to cover the entire skin area.


Contra-Indications

-Hypersensitivity to oxybenzene or any other ingredient in the formulation. -History of allergic reactions to sunscreens or other personal care products containing oxybenzene.


Special Precautions

-Avoid contact with eyes; if contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water. -Do not apply on broken or irritated skin. -For external use only. -Discontinue use if rash or irritation develops. -Consult a healthcare provider before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.


Side Effects

-Skin irritation or rash -Allergic reactions such as itching, redness, or swelling -Contact dermatitis in sensitive individuals
