Paliperidone

Paliperidone

It is a psychotropic agent belonging to the chemical class of benzisoxazole derivatives.

Indications

Schizophrenia, Monotherapy, adjunctive therapy (mood stabilizer/or antidepressant).


Dosage

6mg/day in morning. May increase in steps of 3mg at intervals of > 5 days. Max. : 12mg/day.


Contra-Indications

Hypersensitivity, anaphylactic reactions.


Special Precautions

Elderly patients with dementia-related psychosis, congenital long-QT syndrome, pneumonia patients, Breast cancer, prolactin-dependent tumours, renal impairment or at risk of seizures.


Side Effects

Tachycardia, akathisia, extrapyramidal symptoms, dyspepsia, constipation, weight increased, nasopharyngitis, edema, erctile dysfunction, mensturation irregular, nightmare.


Drug Interactions

Acetylcholine, sterase inhibitors, anti Parkinson's agent, carbamazepine, Lithium & other CNS depressants.
