Podophyllotoxin is a plant-derived compound used primarily in topical treatments for certain skin conditions. It has antitumor properties and is commonly used in the treatment of warts, especially external genital warts and plantar warts.

Indications

-Treatment of external genital warts -Treatment of plantar warts -Treatment of other warts as prescribed by a healthcare provider


Dosage

-External Genital Warts: Apply to affected area twice daily for 3 days, followed by a 4-day treatment-free interval. Repeat the cycle if necessary. -Plantar Warts: Apply once or twice daily for 3 days, followed by a 4-day treatment-free interval. Repeat if necessary.


Contra-Indications

-Hypersensitivity: Known allergy to Podophyllotoxin or any other components in the formulation. -Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Not recommended due to potential risks.


Special Precautions

-Avoid Application on Broken Skin: Do not apply on irritated or broken skin. -Avoid Contact with Eyes: Keep away from mucous membranes and avoid contact with eyes. -Pregnancy Category: Category C - use only if clearly needed and prescribed by a healthcare provider.


Side Effects

-Common: Redness, itching, burning sensation at the application site. -Severe: Severe irritation, ulceration, or infection of the treated area.
