POTASSIUM
In case of patients on diuretic therapy especially by thiazides & loop diuretics, hypokalaemia is a very common complication due to increased potassium loss. This is especially important in cardiac patients &infants being treated for dehydration in view of risk of arrhythmias paralyic ileus & CNS complications. This risk is even more important when diuretics are being used along with digoxin.Liquid: Adults: 15 ml diluted in a full glass of water, after meals. Children: 5 ml diluted in a glass of water per day. Tabs: 2-3 tabs daily prophylactically & 6 tabs a day therapeutically.
