Precipitated Sulfur

Precipitated Sulfur is a topical agent used primarily for its keratolytic and antiseptic properties. It is commonly used in the treatment of skin conditions such as acne, scabies, and dermatitis.

Indications

-Acne vulgaris -Scabies -Seborrheic dermatitis -Psoriasis


Dosage

-Acne: Apply a thin layer to affected areas once or twice daily. -Scabies: Apply to the entire body from the neck down, leave on for 24 hours, and then -wash off. Repeat as directed by a healthcare provider. Seborrheic Dermatitis: Apply a thin layer to affected areas twice daily. -Psoriasis: Apply a thin layer to affected areas once or twice daily, or as directed by a healthcare provider.


Contra-Indications

-Hypersensitivity to sulfur or sulfur-containing compounds. -Avoid use in patients with known allergies to sulfur.


Special Precautions

-Use with caution in patients with sensitive skin or a history of eczema. -Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. -If irritation occurs, discontinue use and consult a healthcare provider.


Side Effects

-Skin irritation (redness, itching, or dryness) -Allergic reactions (rash, swelling, or hives) -Staining of clothing or bedding
