PROPRANOLOL HYDROCHLORIDE

Mepyramine Maleate is an antihistamine used to treat allergic conditions. It works by blocking histamine receptors, thereby reducing symptoms such as itching, sneezing, and runny nose.

Indications

-Allergic rhinitis -Urticaria (hives) -Conjunctivitis caused by allergies -Dermatitis


Dosage

Typically, the dosage for adults is 25 mg to 50 mg, taken 2 to 4 times daily. Dosage for children should be adjusted based on age and weight. Always follow the dosage instructions provided by a healthcare professional.


Contra-Indications

-Hypersensitivity to Mepyramine or any other components of the formulation -Severe liver impairment -Use in newborns and premature infants is generally not recommended


Special Precautions

-Caution in patients with a history of asthma, chronic lung disease, or glaucoma -Use with caution in elderly patients due to potential sedative effects -May impair the ability to perform tasks requiring mental alertness, such as driving

Drug Interactions

-May enhance the sedative effects of other central nervous system depressants, such as alcohol or benzodiazepines -May interact with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), leading to increased side effects
