This medication is a combination of pseudoephedrine hydrochloride (a decongestant), chlorpheniramine maleate (an antihistamine), guaifenesin (an expectorant), ammonium chloride (an expectorant), and menthol (a soothing agent). It works by relieving symptoms associated with respiratory conditions such as nasal congestion, cough, and throat irritation.This medication is indicated for the relief of symptoms associated with the common cold, allergies, hay fever, sinusitis, and other respiratory tract infections, including nasal congestion, runny nose, cough, and throat irritation.
-Adults and children over 12 years old: Take 1 to 2 tablets every 4 to 6 hours, not exceeding 8 tablets in 24 hours. -Children 6 to 12 years old: Take 1/2 to 1 tablet every 4 to 6 hours, not exceeding 4 tablets in 24 hours. -Do not use in children under 6 years old unless directed by a doctor.
-Hypersensitivity to any component of the medication. -Severe hypertension. -Severe coronary artery disease. -Use of monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) within the past 14 days.
-Use with caution in patients with hypertension, diabetes, hyperthyroidism, glaucoma, prostatic hypertrophy, or liver disease. -Avoid alcohol consumption while taking this medication. -Do not exceed the recommended dosage.
Common side effects may include drowsiness, dizziness, headache, blurred vision, dry mouth, nausea, constipation, and nervousness. Rare but serious side effects may include difficulty breathing, irregular heartbeat, seizures, and allergic reactions. Discontinue use and seek medical attention if any severe side effects occur.
-MAOIs: Concurrent use may result in hypertensive crisis. -Tricyclic antidepressants, SSRIs, and other sympathomimetic drugs: Increased risk of cardiovascular effects. -Alcohol: Increased CNS depression.
