Rabeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that reduces stomach acid production, while Itopride is a prokinetic agent that enhances gastrointestinal motility. The combination is used to treat conditions related to gastric acid imbalance and impaired motility.

Indications

-Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) -Peptic Ulcer Disease -Functional Dyspepsia -Gastroparesis -Acute Gastritis


Dosage

The dosage may vary based on individual patient needs and the specific condition being treated. However, a common dosage is usually Rabeprazole 20 mg once daily before a meal and Itopride 50 mg three times a day before meals.


Contra-Indications

-Hypersensitivity to Rabeprazole or Itopride -Severe hepatic impairment -Pregnancy and lactation -Age below 18 years


Special Precautions

-Patients with renal impairment may require dosage adjustments. -Caution in patients with cardiovascular diseases due to prokinetic effects of Itopride. -Monitor for any signs of allergic reactions or severe gastrointestinal symptoms.


Side Effects

-Common side effects: Headache, nausea, diarrhea. -Rare but serious side effects: Allergic reactions, liver dysfunction, cardiac arrhythmias (with Itopride).


Drug Interactions

-Rabeprazole may interact with medications metabolized by the CYP2C19 enzyme. -Itopride may enhance the effects of certain medications affecting heart rhythm (e.g., antiarrhythmics).
