ROXATIDINE ACETATE HYDROCHLORIDE
It is a potent and selective H2-receptor antagonist useful in treatment of acid peptic disorders. It markedly inhibits basal, as well as stimulated gastric acid secretion in a dose dependent fashion. Roxatidine has no antiandrogenic activity: no sinificant effect on hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal or adrenal axis. Intake of food or antacids has no effect on the absorption of Roxatidine and has no adverse drug interacting with benzodiazepines antihypertensives.Duodenal and benign gastric ulcers and reflux oesophagitis. Prophylaxis or recurrent gastric/duodenal ulcers and as maintenance therapy.
150 mg once daily in the evenin or 75 mg twice daily for 4-6 wks. Maintenance therapy; 75 mg daily in the evening.
VHypersensitivity, malignant gastric ulcers, or anuria.
In severe hepatic & renal impairment dose must be reduced. Paediatrics: Not recommended in children under14. Pregnancy: Should not be used. Lactation: Should not be used. Elderly: Reduce the dose.
Occasional headache, gastro-intestinal disturbances, rarely dizziness, seep disturbances, restlessness and drowsiness, visual disturbances pain in muscles and joints, hypersensitivity reactions. Transient impairment of sexual drive.
