RUBELLA VACCINE

The Rubella Vaccine is used to protect against rubella (German measles), a contagious viral infection. It is typically administered during childhood as part of routine immunization schedules to prevent outbreaks and complications associated with rubella.

Indications

-Prevention of rubella infection -Part of the MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccination series


Dosage

-For Children: Typically administered as a single dose at 12-15 months of age and a second dose at 4-6 years. -For Adults: If not previously vaccinated or not immune, a single dose may be recommended.


Contra-Indications

-Pregnancy: Avoid administration during pregnancy. -Severe allergic reaction to a previous dose of the vaccine. -Immunocompromised individuals (consult a healthcare provider).


Special Precautions

-Consult a healthcare provider before administration if there are any allergies or previous adverse reactions. -Postpone vaccination in case of acute illness or high fever.


Side Effects

-Mild fever -Rash -Tenderness at the injection site -Rarely, allergic reactions or joint pain
