Salbutamol
Salbutamol is a medication used to relieve bronchospasm in conditions such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It works as a beta-2 adrenergic agonist, which helps to relax the muscles in the airways and improve airflow.-Asthma -Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) -Exercise-induced bronchoconstriction
-Inhaler: Typically 100-200 mcg every 4-6 hours as needed. -Nebulizer: 2.5-5 mg every 4-6 hours as needed. -Oral Tablets: 2-4 mg three to four times a day, depending on the severity of symptoms.
-Hypersensitivity to Salbutamol or any of its components -Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular disorders, hyperthyroidism, or diabetes
-Monitor for signs of paradoxical bronchospasm -Use cautiously in patients with a history of seizures or renal impairment -Regular monitoring is advised for patients using high doses or frequent use
-Common: Tremors, headache, palpitations, and muscle cramps -Less common: Tachycardia, hypertension, hyperglycemia
-May interact with other beta-adrenergic agonists or sympathomimetics -Caution with MAO inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants -May potentiate the effects of corticosteroids and diuretics
