Shunthi, known scientifically as Zingiber officinale, is commonly referred to as dried ginger in Ayurveda. It is celebrated for its therapeutic properties and is used extensively in both culinary and medicinal applications.

Indications

-Digestive disorders such as indigestion, bloating, and flatulence -Nausea and vomiting -Joint pain and inflammation -Respiratory conditions like cough and cold -Menstrual discomfort and cramps


Dosage

The dosage of Shunthi varies depending on the form of administration: -Powder: 1-3 grams mixed with warm water, taken up to three times daily. -Decoction: 30-50 ml, taken twice daily or as directed by an Ayurvedic practitioner. -Capsules or tablets: Follow the manufacturer's instructions or healthcare provider's advice.


Contra-Indications

-Hypersensitivity to ginger or any components of Shunthi -Avoid use in individuals with bleeding disorders or those taking anticoagulant medications -Not recommended during pregnancy without consulting a healthcare provider

-Keep out of reach of children -Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight -Use cautiously in individuals with gastric ulcers or acid reflux -Monitor blood sugar levels in diabetic patients as ginger may lower blood sugar levels
