Sodium Salicylate
Sodium Salicylate is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to reduce pain, inflammation, and fever. It works by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins, which are chemicals in the body involved in inflammation and pain.-Relief of mild to moderate pain -Reduction of inflammation in conditions such as arthritis -Fever reduction
-Adults: Typically 0.5 to 1 gram, taken orally every 4 to 6 hours as needed, not exceeding 4 grams per day. -Children: Dosage should be determined by a healthcare provider based on the child’s weight and age.
-Hypersensitivity to salicylates or any component of the formulation -Active peptic ulcer disease -Severe renal or hepatic impairment -History of gastrointestinal bleeding
-Use with caution in patients with a history of gastrointestinal disorders or bleeding -Monitor renal and hepatic function during prolonged use -Avoid use in the third trimester of pregnancy due to potential effects on the fetus
-Gastrointestinal irritation, including nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain -Allergic reactions such as rash or urticaria -Dizziness or headache -Tinnitus (ringing in the ears) in high doses
-May interact with anticoagulants such as warfarin, increasing the risk of bleeding -Can enhance the effects of other NSAIDs and increase the risk of adverse effects -Potential interaction with antihypertensive medications, reducing their effectiveness
