TETANUS IMMUNOGLOBULIN (T.I.G)

It is a sterile non- pyrogenic solution of hyper immuneglobulins prepared from the plasma of healthy volunteers specifically immunised against Tetanus.

Indications

Subjects already sensitised with serums of animals origin, existence of prior or present allergic manifestations (asthma, eczema, etc.). Burns, injuries , open and compound fractures. Unimmunized or inadequately immunised mothers.


Dosage

Prohylaxis: 250 to 500 i.u. intramuscularly. Therapeutic: Tetanus Neonatorum: 500 to 10,000 i.u. intramuscularly or 250 i.u. intrathecally. In adults and children: 500 to 10,000 i.u. intramuscularly and/or 250 to 500 i.u. intrathecally.


Contra-Indications

None reported.


Special Precautions

Avoid I.V. inj. Avoid skin tests.


Side Effects

Local pain, fever, flushing, headache and chills may occur.
