TETANUS TOXOID(Adsorbed)

It is a sterile, cloudy, uniform suspension of tetanus toxoid adsorbed on aluminium phosphate and suspended in isotonic sodium chloride solution.

Indications

-Prevention of tetanus infection. -Used in routine immunization schedules for children and adults. -Recommended for wound management in the case of dirty or high-risk wounds.


Dosage

-For children: Typically administered as part of the DTP (Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis) vaccine series. -For adults: Boosters are recommended every 10 years or as per the physician’s advice, particularly after a significant injury.


Contra-Indications

Infants or children with fever, or other evidence of acute illness. Defer during outbreak of poliomyelitis.


Special Precautions

-Administer with caution in individuals with a history of neurological disorders, including Guillain-Barré syndrome. -Monitor for signs of an allergic reaction post-vaccination.


Side Effects

Mild local reactions consisting of pain erythema,tenderness & in duration at the injection site.
