TRAMADOL HYDROCHLORIDE
Tramadol Hydrochloride is an opioid analgesic medication used to treat moderate to moderately severe pain. It works by binding to opioid receptors in the brain and inhibiting the reuptake of norepinephrine and serotonin, leading to pain relief. Tramadol is available in immediate-release and extended-release formulations. It is a analgesic which acts on opiate receptors in the C.N.S to opiate like analgesia,but at therapeutic doses of 1mg/kg it does not produce respiratory depression or other side effects typical of a opiate analgesic.Severe acute and chronic pain, diagnostic procedures and surgical pains
50 to 100mg 2 to 3 times daily. Max:400mg total daily dose.
Hypersensitivity,acute C.N.S intoxications due to alcohol, analgesics, or psychotropics.
Alcohol, not to drive or operate machinery. Paediatrics:Should not be used in children below 16 years. Pregnancy: Safety not established. Lactation: Not recommended. Elderly: Reduced dose may be necessary.
Sweating,nausea,vomiting,animation, stupor.
Concomitantly administrered tranquilisers, hypnotics intensifies sedative effects. Fatal interaction with MAOIs. Opioid analgesics like buprenorphine, butorphanol, and pentazocine precipitate withdrawal symptoms
