UMECLIDINIUM

Umeclidinium is a long-acting muscarinic antagonist (LAMA) used as a bronchodilator. It works by inhibiting the action of acetylcholine on muscarinic receptors in the airway smooth muscle, leading to bronchodilation. It is commonly prescribed for maintenance treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Indications

-Maintenance treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including chronic bronchitis and emphysema. -Improves airflow in patients with stable COPD.


Dosage

Recommended Dosage: -62.5 mcg inhaled once daily using a dry powder inhaler. Administration: Administer at the same time each day. -Inhale orally using the provided inhaler device.


Contra-Indications

-Hypersensitivity to Umeclidinium or any excipients in the formulation. -Severe allergic reactions to anticholinergic drugs.


Side Effects

-Common: Dry mouth, sore throat, and cough -Rare: Difficulty urinating, blurred vision, and paradoxical bronchospasm -Serious: Allergic reactions, including rash, swelling, or difficulty breathing


Drug Interactions

-Avoid co-administration with other anticholinergic medications to prevent additive side effects. -Use caution with medications that may exacerbate urinary retention or glaucoma symptoms.
