ZINC BACITRACIN

Zinc Bacitracin is an antibiotic that is used to prevent minor skin infections caused by small cuts, scrapes, or burns. It works by stopping the growth of certain bacteria.

Indications

-Prevention of infection in minor cuts, scrapes, and burns. -Treatment of localized skin infections.


Dosage

-Apply a small amount (an amount equal to the surface area of the tip of a finger) to the affected area 1 to 3 times daily. -The area may be covered with a sterile bandage.


Contra-Indications

-Hypersensitivity to bacitracin or any component of the formulation. -Not for use in eyes or over large areas of the body.


Special Precautions

-For external use only. -Avoid contact with eyes. -If the condition persists or worsens after one week, discontinue use and consult a healthcare provider. Use with caution in individuals with renal impairment.


Side Effects

-Mild itching or redness at the application site. -Rarely, an allergic reaction characterized by rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, or trouble breathing.


Drug Interactions

-No significant drug interactions are known with topical use of bacitracin. -Avoid using other topical antibiotics simultaneously on the same area unless directed by a healthcare provider.
