India celebrated World Yoga Day with Prime Minister Narendra Modi taking part in a Yoga session in Mysore, Karnataka while several chief ministers, cabinet ministers, sport athletes and other renowned personalities performed Yoga Asanas in various locations of the country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “Yoga brings peace for us. The peace from Yoga is not only for individuals. Yoga brings peace to our society. Yoga brings peace to our nations and the world. Yoga brings peace for our universe. This might feel like an extreme thought to someone, but our Indian sages have answered this with a simple mantra.”

“This whole universe starts from our own body and soul. This universe starts from us. And, Yoga makes us conscious of everything within us and builds a sense of awareness. It starts with self-awareness and proceeds to awareness of the world. When we become aware of ourselves and our world, we begin to spot things that need to be changed, both in ourselves and in the world,” he added.

While performing Yoga at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Delhi, Member of Parliament Gautam Gambhir praised the efforts of Prime Minister Modi taking Yoga all over the world.

Dr DS Rana, Chairman, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, said, “We at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital were first in Delhi in the private sector to have started a Yoga unit in 2022. Till now it has benefitted thousands of patients. It is an integral part of the Department of Alternative Medicine like Homeopathy and Acupuncture.”
