Prof Dr Javed Ali of LV Prasad Eye Institute Awarded J C Bose Fellowship for Pioneering Research in Ophthalmology

Clinician-Scientist at the LV Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI), Prof Dr Javed Ali, has been honored with the prestigious 'J C Bose Fellowship' in Medicine for his remarkable contributions to Dacryology within Ophthalmology.


Named after the renowned scientist Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose, this fellowship is granted by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), highlighting excellence in science and technology.

Hyderabad, January 4, 2024: The LV Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) is pleased to announce that Prof Dr Javed Ali, a Clinician-Scientist, has been awarded the esteemed 'JC Bose Fellowship' in Medicine, recognizing his outstanding work in Dacryology within Ophthalmology. This distinguished fellowship, named after Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose, is conferred by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, in acknowledgment of excellence in science and technology.

Heading the Govindram Seksaria Institute of Dacryology at LVPEI, Dr Javed Ali is a global leader in oculoplastic surgery and lacrimal drainage sciences. His illustrious career includes serving as the Editor-in-Chief of the esteemed journal Seminars in Ophthalmology, holding distinguished academic positions worldwide, and receiving accolades such as the Alexander Von Humboldt Fellowship Award and the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize. With 605 publications, including a comprehensive textbook on lacrimal surgery, Dr Javed Ali has made a profound impact on ophthalmology.

Dr Javed Ali's unparalleled dedication to the field of Dacryology and his global impact as a clinician-scientist have earned him this prestigious recognition. As a JC Bose Fellow, Dr Javed Ali will receive a fellowship of Rs 25,000 per month and a research grant of Rs 15 Lakh annually for 5 years, supporting his research work. Additionally, the institute will also receive overhead funding every year.
