Vice-President Dhankhar Advocates for Gender Justice and Women's Economic Empowerment

Addressing members of the FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO) on the occasion of its 40th anniversary at Bharat Mandapam, Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar underscored the pivotal role of gender justice and women's economic empowerment in achieving sustainable development. Emphasizing that empowering women is an investment in the present and future of our world, he highlighted the transformative potential of promoting equal opportunities and amplifying the voices and achievements of women.


Vice-President Dhankhar commended recent affirmative initiatives aimed at gender equality, including the provision of permanent commission for women in the Armed Forces and the admission of girls in Sainik Schools. He hailed the passage of the 'Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam' in parliament as a game changer for gender equality and women's empowerment, emphasizing its significance in challenging patriarchal mindsets.

Dismissing stereotypes and apprehensions surrounding women's leadership roles, Vice-President Dhankhar celebrated the leadership demonstrated by women scientists in India's Chandrayan Mission. He emphasized that women are reclaiming their rightful place in society and are no longer constrained by traditional gender roles.

Highlighting the symbiotic relationship between gender justice and sustainable development, Vice-President Dhankhar asserted that women's economic empowerment is fundamental to achieving sustainable development goals. He stressed that when more women participate in the workforce, economies flourish.

Furthermore, Vice-President Dhankhar described women as natural ambassadors of economic nationalism, urging all to embrace economic nationalism as a cornerstone of national growth. He emphasized the indispensable role of nationalism and culture in driving economic progress, stating that economic nationalism is essential for the nation's overall development.

The event, attended by National President of FLO, Ms. Sudha Shivkumar, and other dignitaries, served as a platform to reaffirm the commitment to advancing gender equality and women's empowerment for a more just and prosperous society.
