Run for Democracy: DU Vice Chancellor Urges Students to Vote and Inspire Others

Addressing students at Delhi University (DU) during the "Run for Developed India" event, DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh urged all students to vote themselves and inspire 10 others to vote for the upcoming elections. Prof. Yogesh Singh addressed the gathering as the chief guest before flagging off the "Run for Developed India" event organized at Delhi University.


More than 5,000 students from various colleges and departments participated in the race. The event commenced at 7 am from gate number one of the university, culminating at the university's sports complex via gate number four.

The occasion saw the presence of distinguished guests, including Olympic medalist and India's first badminton player Saina Nehwal and former student of DU's ARSD College, actor Rajkumar Rao.

The Vice-Chancellor expressed his desire for India to progress and improve, emphasizing that everyone has a role to play. He encouraged students to vote themselves and motivate 10 others to do the same, stating that their participation would strengthen democracy and bring significant positive changes in the country over the next 25 years. He emphasized that when individuals contribute positively, the country also benefits.

He cited examples of Olympian Saina Nehwal and actor Rajkumar Rao, who have elevated the nation's name, urging students to aspire to similar heights in their lives. Prof. Yogesh Singh urged students to find their role in making India developed by 2047, as the country needs everyone's contribution.

"Run for Developed India" saw the participation of around 5,000 students from various colleges, along with nodal officers and sports teachers from different colleges, including NSS and NCC. Arrangements such as water stations and ambulances were made during the race. The event was graced by the presence of several dignitaries, including Dean of Colleges Prof. Balram Pani, Director of South Campus Prof. Shriprakash Singh, Registrar Dr. Vikas Gupta, Dean of Student Welfare Prof. Pankaj Arora, Director of Sports Dr. Anil Kumar Kalkal, and Dean Cultural Council Prof. Ravindra, among many other officials and teachers.
