Dr. Naresh Trehan Honored for Pioneering Contributions to Cardiac Surgery
Dr. Naresh Trehan, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Global Health Ltd., has been recognised by the International Congress of Cardiac Surgery for his exceptional achievements in the field.
The Congress, a global society dedicated to advancing heart surgery techniques and patient outcomes, bestowed upon Dr. Trehan the title of one of the “Seven Wise Coronary Surgeons of the Golden Era of the 90's." The prestigious award was presented in Athens, Greece, at the Old Parliament of Greece, alongside other esteemed doctors from around the world.
Dr. Trehan's journey to becoming a renowned cardiac surgeon began with his medical education at King George’s Medical University in Lucknow. After completing his internship at Safdarjung Hospital, he pursued further training at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. Despite initial skepticism from his peers, Dr. Trehan's determination led him to secure a coveted residency with Dr. Frank Spencer at New York University Medical Center, where he honed his surgical skills.
Known for his speed and precision in the operating room, Dr. Trehan earned a reputation for successfully treating patients considered inoperable by others. His ambidexterity further enhanced his surgical prowess, reducing anesthesia time and improving patient outcomes.
Expressing his gratitude for the recognition, Dr. Trehan emphasized the importance of collaboration and continued excellence in healthcare. He highlighted the support of his colleagues and staff in achieving this milestone and reaffirmed his commitment to providing quality healthcare for all.
Despite his success in New York, Dr. Trehan remained committed to bringing advanced cardiac care to India. In 1988, he established Escorts Heart Institute, setting a new standard for cardiac care in the country. This vision culminated in the founding of Medanta - The Medicity in Gurugram in 2009, a multi-specialty hospital with a capacity of 1,400 beds. Dr. Trehan's legacy extends beyond his own surgical practice, as he continues to mentor the next generation of cardiac surgeons.
At 77 years old, Dr. Trehan serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors at Global Health Ltd., continuing to lead and inspire advancements in cardiac surgery and healthcare.
