Cardiological Society of India to Unveil New Dyslipidemia Management Guidelines

The Cardiological Society of India (CSI) is preparing to present its comprehensive new guidelines for managing dyslipidemia at an eagerly awaited event on July 4, 2024, at The Royal Plaza in New Delhi. Scheduled to begin at 12:00 PM, this event promises to be a significant milestone in advancing cardiovascular health in India.

The new guidelines, which will be published in the Indian Heart Journal, encompass the management of LDL, non-HDL-C, triglycerides, and lipoprotein(a). They offer a holistic approach that integrates drug therapies, dietary recommendations, exercise routines, and yoga. These guidelines are designed to cater to diverse patient groups, including the elderly, children, and individuals with comorbid conditions. Developed through the expert consensus of leading Indian cardiologists and aligned with international standards, they provide a robust framework for dyslipidemia management.

Dr. J. P. S. Sawhney, Chairman of the Department of Cardiology at Sir Gangaram Hospital in New Delhi and Chairman of the Lipid Guidelines, will deliver the keynote address. He emphasizes the importance of these new guidelines in equipping healthcare professionals with the tools necessary for effective dyslipidemia management.

Joining him will be Dr. S. Ramakrishnan, Professor of Cardiology at AIIMS, New Delhi, and Dr. Ashwani Mehta, Senior Consultant Cardiologist at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi, both co-authors of the guidelines. They will discuss the collaborative effort and expert consensus that shaped these recommendations.

"This event marks a significant step in advancing cardiovascular health in India. The new guidelines will provide healthcare professionals with the essential tools to manage dyslipidemia effectively," said Dr. Sawhney.

The guidelines emphasize a comprehensive approach, combining pharmacological treatments with lifestyle modifications such as diet, exercise, and yoga, to manage and prevent dyslipidemia effectively.

The CSI invites healthcare professionals, cardiologists, and stakeholders to attend this event to gain insights into the latest strategies for dyslipidemia management.
