Union Health Minister JP Nadda Outlines Vision for AIIMS Expansion

In a recent Lok Sabha session, Union Health Minister JP Nadda outlined a transformative vision for the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) network, emphasizing a shift toward decentralizing top-tier healthcare services across India. Nadda highlighted the goal of ensuring that patients from all regions of the country can access high-quality medical care without the need to travel to Delhi.

“Our vision for AIIMS is to replicate the excellence of the Delhi institution across the nation,” Nadda stated. He emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spearheaded the establishment of over 17 new AIIMS across different regions, aiming to create a world-class tertiary healthcare system within each region. This expansion is part of a broader effort to make advanced medical care more accessible to all citizens.

Reflecting on the progress made since the 1960s and 70s, Nadda remarked on the significant advancements in healthcare facilities. He noted that while previously the country lacked the necessary infrastructure, today's India boasts 22 world-class institutions thanks to PM Modi’s initiatives.

Nadda’s comments underscore the ongoing commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure and accessibility, marking a significant step toward reducing regional disparities in medical services.
