In a proactive drive to raise awareness about breast cancer among young women, prominent oncologists have recently led educational sessions across several leading colleges in Delhi. Organized by the Vivekanand Health Mission Trust in partnership with the Ekal Yuva Bharat Lok Shiksha Parishad (BLSP), this initiative seeks to empower women with vital knowledge on early detection and prevention methods. Each session attracted over 300 female students, demonstrating the program's significant reach and impact.

On October 22, 2024, Dr. Neha Garg, Consultant Medical Oncologist from Action Cancer Hospital, led an engaging session at Kalindi College, Patel Nagar. She emphasized the importance of routine breast self-examinations and early screenings, critical tools for reducing breast cancer mortality rates. Her talk resonated with students, underscoring the importance of vigilance and proactive health practices.

At Shaheed Rajguru College of Applied Sciences for Women, Vasundhara Enclave, Dr. Rashi Agarwal, a Consultant in Radiation Oncology at Max Cancer Institute, highlighted the advancements in radiation treatment and the transformative role of timely medical intervention. Similarly, Dr. Deepika Chauhan, Senior Consultant and Unit Head of Radiation Oncology at Venkateshwar Hospital, engaged students at Shri Ram College of Commerce with insights into modern breast cancer treatments and the power of awareness in combating the disease.

Dr. Manish Pandey, Head of Radiotherapy at Action Balaji Hospital and President of the Vivekanand Health Mission Trust, spoke on the program’s mission, emphasizing that “early detection is the key to defeating breast cancer.” He affirmed that initiatives like this one empower young women with essential health knowledge, equipping them to make informed choices about their well-being.

Secretary of the Vivekananda Health Mission Trust, Dr. Neeraj Azad Yadav, also shared his perspective on the importance of such initiatives. "Creating awareness about breast cancer, especially among young women, is the need of the hour. Education is the first step toward prevention. By reaching out to students, we aim to empower them with the knowledge to recognize early warning signs and seek timely medical help. This program is a part of our ongoing commitment to promoting health and well-being in the community," he stated.

Building on its success, the breast cancer awareness initiative is poised to reach more educational institutions, cultivating a culture of awareness and encouraging proactive health measures across Delhi.
