IIIT-Delhi Team Wins Innovation Award at 2024 AMR Surveillance Data Challenge

New Delhi based Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi (IIIT-Delhi) received global recognition after its research team won the top innovation award at the 2024 AMR Surveillance Data Challenge. Leading organisations like the Global Antibiotic Research and Development Partnership (GARDP), Paratek Pharmaceuticals, Pfizer, and Vivli sponsor the competition, which recognises innovative data-driven approaches to combating antimicrobial resistance.

The winning team, led by Prof. Tavpritesh Sethi and assisted by Jasmin Kaur, presented their innovative study, "AMROrbit Scorecard: A Dynamic Phase Space Model for Strategic Monitoring and Actionable Insights on Global AMR Trajectories." Their initiative stood out among 56 competing teams from 27 nations, making IIIT-Delhi the only Indian to receive this global acclaim.

The AMROrbit Scorecard uses a unique dynamic phase space model to deliver practical insights into global AMR trends. By combining standard hospital and laboratory data with AI-powered analytics, the solution enables healthcare stakeholders to develop effective AMR stewardship and surveillance programmes.

Speaking about the success and highlighting the critical need for creativity in solving AMR Prof. Tavpritesh Sethi said, "The Innovation Award emphasises the crucial global need for practical information and data-driven initiatives to address the growing threat of AMR.”

“We take great pride in advancing this cause through the AMROrbit Scorecard, a user-friendly tool that equips hospitals and communities with AI-powered solutions," he added.

Jasmin Kaur, a major contributor, commented on the project's impact, saying, "It is incredibly encouraging to see my research in AI for public health gain global recognition."

“My PhD journey has shown me that research can solve real-world problems and promote effective policy responses to crucial challenges such as AMR," she added.
