In a move to strengthen medical preparedness and life-saving capabilities, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has joined hands with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the two institutions to provide specialized training in Indian Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) guidelines for Coast Guard medical officer.
The MoU was signed by Surg Cmde Sanjay Dutta on behalf of the ICG and Dr. Shailendra Kumar, CRTC AIIMS Coordinator, at a formal ceremony held at AIIMS New Delhi. The event was presided over by AIIMS Director Prof. M. Srinivas and witnessed by prominent dignitaries, including Inspector General Jyotindra Singh of the Indian Coast Guard; Surg Cmde Divya Gautam, VSM; Prof. Ganga Prasad, Head of Anaesthesiology, Pain Medicine, and Critical Care at AIIMS; Prof. Rakesh Garg, Scientific Director of the Indian Resuscitation Council Framework (IRCF); and Dr. Amit Kumar, Assistant Professor of Anaesthesiology at AIIMS.
The partnership underscores a shared commitment to enhancing emergency medical readiness in operationally demanding environments. Under the MoU, AIIMS New Delhi will provide structured, advanced training to Coast Guard personnel, focusing on CPR techniques and other critical life-saving procedures.
Speaking at the ceremony, Surg Cmde Sanjay Dutta emphasized the initiative's importance in bolstering the Coast Guard's emergency response capabilities at sea. Dr. Shailendra Kumar echoed this sentiment, reaffirming AIIMS New Delhi’s dedication to excellence in healthcare training and its collaboration with national defense forces.
