Stryker Launches Advanced Insignia Hip Stem in India
Stryker, a global leader in medical technologies, has announced the launch of its advanced Insignia® Hip Stem in India. This innovative implant is designed to enhance patient-specific fit and simplify procedures for surgeons performing total hip and hemiarthroplasty surgeries.
The Insignia Hip Stem is compatible with Stryker’s Mako SmartRobotics™ technology, which integrates data from a 3D CT-based plan to capture each patient’s unique anatomy. This cutting-edge approach allows surgeons to achieve greater precision during hip replacement procedures.
Stryker developed the Insignia Hip Stem using its proprietary Orthopaedics Modeling and Analytics (SOMA) database. By analyzing over 1,300 patient CT images, the company created a device that replicates patient biomechanics with exceptional accuracy. The SOMA platform enabled Stryker to design and test implant features that cater to a diverse range of femoral morphologies, ensuring an optimal fit for a wide variety of patients.
One of the standout features of the Insignia Hip Stem is the Tri-Stage™ Broach, a patent-pending instrument developed with SOMA technology. This innovative tool incorporates three distinct tooth geometries, size-specific collar lengths, and an extensive range of femoral offsets. These features are tailored to provide superior fit and function, accommodating the anatomical variations of different patients.
Additionally, the implant boasts a low-profile shoulder, short stem lengths, and distal relief to facilitate easier insertion and lateralization, making it a versatile solution for surgeons.
Commenting on the launch, Aman Rishi, Vice President and General Manager of Stryker India, said, “We are thrilled to introduce the Insignia® Hip Stem in India. This collared, metaphyseal-filling hip stem complements our primary hip portfolio. Its compatibility with Mako SmartRobotics™ and SOMA-based design provides a truly personalized approach to hip replacement. By offering patient-specific fit, function, and flexibility, Insignia allows surgeons to achieve better outcomes for their patients.”
To showcase the Insignia Hip Stem and its capabilities, Stryker will conduct live demonstrations during upcoming national conferences and events in India.
The introduction of the Insignia Hip Stem marks a significant advancement in hip replacement technology, offering a blend of innovation, precision, and improved patient outcomes tailored to the Indian market.
