Transforming Lives: Free Plastic Surgery Camp by BJS Brings Hope to Delhi’s Poor
The Bharatiya Jain Sanghatana (BJS) has stepped up to support underprivileged communities by organizing a free plastic surgery camp in Pitampura, Delhi. This initiative, led by Dr. Kamal Jain Setia, President of Delhi State BJS, has made a huge difference in the lives of many who cannot afford expensive medical treatments.
Dr. Kamal Jain Setia shared the success of the camp with Drug Today Medical Times. “In just three days, we have completed around 150 plastic surgeries for people who cannot afford the high costs of private hospitals. Several experienced doctors from the United States joined us to perform these surgeries free of charge,” he said.
BJS is not new to such noble efforts. “We don’t just organize free medical camps. We also work with the government on important causes like organ donation awareness and water conservation in partnership with NITI Aayog. Our next big plan is a camp on World Cancer Day in February 2025,” Dr. Jain added.
The camp has been a blessing for many, as explained by Mr. Manoj Jain, Vice President of BJS Delhi. “These camps are a lifeline for poor families who cannot spend Rs. 2 to 3 lakh on surgeries in private hospitals. BJS makes sure they get the treatment they need without any cost,” he said.
Mr. Rajesh Jain, another key member of BJS, called the initiative “a special and meaningful effort.” He added, “BJS is doing an amazing job of helping those who need it the most.”
Narendra Jain, General Secretary of BJS, explained how the camp works. “Although the camp is open to everyone, it mainly benefits people from low-income backgrounds. Surgeries that usually cost Rs. 4 to 5 lakh in private hospitals are done here in just one day, starting with an OPD consultation,” he said.
Judge S.C. Jain from the Delhi State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission praised BJS’s work. “This is an incredible and selfless initiative. It’s rare to see such impactful work being done by an NGO. I hope BJS keeps helping those in need,” he said.
With initiatives like these, BJS is changing lives and making healthcare accessible to the poorest sections of society. Their work sets a powerful example of how compassion and dedication can create a real difference.
